The Canadian Finals Rodeo will wrap this weekend for what could be its last ride.
For the 44th and final time, the five-day rodeo event will come to a close following Sunday’s championship presentations.
What can people expect come Wednesday? Well, the main attractions will be:
- Steer Riding
- Team Roping
- Bareback
- Bull Riding
There will even be events for kids where they can shadow CFR athletes and interact with the animals.
With the uncertainty of Northlands Coliseum in the air and no set place for the CFR next year, volunteers and fans alike are disappointed to see the event leave its home. Still, there’s plenty for guests to look forward to this weekend.
“People can expect the usual incredible rodeo experience that they get from the CFR. In addition, this year we’ll have special celebrations of the history of CFR of the great legends that have been made in this building,” says Caiti Farquharson, the CFR media coordinator.
Northlands has hosted the event since 1974, drawing crowds of over 16,000 people. The event has been in conjunction with FarmFair which is held in the Northlands Expo Centre, where people get an insight on everything agriculture and livestock.
Farquharson also says there will also be a nostalgic aspect to this weekend as Northlands will include a room with 44 years of memorabilia.
“And we’ll also have a hall of fame experience that everyone with a CFR ticket can go to.”
The final Canadian Finals Rodeo runs from November 8 to 12. Tickets available at the CFR website.
