How to make whipped shea body butter

Mother nature has given us so many gifts and part of these wonderful presents is natural skincare ingredients. Shea butter provides many wonderful benefits which keep our skin supple and hydrated especially during the winter season.

What is shea butter?

Shea butter is extracted from the fruit kernel of the shea tree most commonly found in several parts of West Africa. This butter is extremely healing and demulcent to the skin.

It helps alleviate the skin from inflammation, hyperpigmentation, and eczema.

Due to its rich consistency, this moisturizer is often mixed with other ingredients to make it easier for one’s skin to absorb it.

Ingredients:

Raw shea butter from Ghana

2 tbsp vitamin e oil

¼ cup coconut oil

3 tbsp avocado oil

5 drops mango essential oil

Instructions:

Melt shea butter in a double boiler over medium heat until it becomes a liquid consistency. Turn of the heat then combine in vitamin e oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil. Allow the mix to cool until it’s close to being solid. The timing could vary it could take 30 minutes if placed in the fridge. The add in the drops of mango essential oil ( this is for fragrance purposes so use any essential oil you like ). Now its time to whip it to a buttery texture. With a handheld mixture whip for about 10 minutes or until you feel like a light and airy softness is obtained.

Spoon into a container and there you go. This mix has a shelf life of about 2 years when kept in dark and dry place.

How to use:

Add a small sized amount into your hands rub together and massage into your skin. It will then absorb into your skin within seconds.
