NAIT’s medical centre receives large donation to increase programming

The Centre for Advanced Medical Simulation at NAIT has received a $1.27 million grant from the province. The money will give health and technology companies better access to the simulation facility.

“We look forward to seeing the successful projects that flow through this unique program,” said Raja Mita, Executive Director, Alberta Innovates.

Alberta Innovates alongside Health Innovation Platform Partnerships funded the project.

The Centre For Advanced Medical Simulation (CAMS) is a world-class healthcare building on NAIT’s main campus and the only of its kind in Canada.

“The Centre for Advanced Medical has been an asset to NAIT,” said Denis MacIver, School of Health and Life Sciences. “The real-life clinical settings provided in the simulation centre prepares our students to enter their careers.”

The 6,000 square foot centre features specialized theatres, elevated control rooms, and multiple breakout spaces to view ongoing simulations. North American companies will also be able to use the facility for clinical studies and to test new innovations.

NAIT was one of three organizations in the province to receive funding. Alberta Innovates granted more than $6-million towards the improvement of patient care in the province.
