About the Journalist
Kavel is a second-year television student enrolled in NAIT's Radio and Television program. This quotation by Bishop TD Jakes, "If you can't figure out your purpose, figure out your passion." "For your passion will lead you to your purpose" has played a significant role in the person she is today.
Before attending NAIT, she attained a BSc in Dental Hygiene from the University of Technology, Jamaica. Her exposure to media was heightened during a marketing campaign when she participated not only on camera but also assisted in its production. The excitement, the adrenaline, the lights, learning the script and the entire production felt as if she was in her natural element. Driven by this passion, she immigrated to Canada.
Kavel believes that her global exposure will help to add a versatile dimension to her future anchoring and production work here in Canada while enhancing the perspectives of her stories.
When she is not completing school assignments or working, she loves to try out different restaurants and support small local businesses in the area. You may also find her re-watching all the Harry Potter movies every holiday season. A tradition she intends to pass down to her future children.
