Edmonton’s fall weather does not have the greatest track record, with heavy snow early in September last year. But the start to Edmonton’s fall this year has had a welcome number of sunny days. Here are a few ideas on how to take advantage of the nice days with a few fall-themed activities.
1. Duchess Bake Shop’s fall treat
This October Duchess Bake Shop has many fall themed treats on the menu. The feature french macaron flavours for the month are pumpkin pie, banana praline and london fog. Take a trip to the bakery on 124th Street for a coffee and to taste some other goodies in the gleaming cases, including a blackberry pear rhubarb pie and an autumn tart with hazelnuts and candied spiced oranges.
2. The Edmonton Corn Maze
Designed in the shape of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Bear the Edmonton Corn Maze has been a popular spot this fall. The maze also features a bounce pit and a petting zoo with cows, goats, pigs and chickens. The last day to go through the maze is Oct. 26.
3. A nice fall walk
This activity won’t break the bank and all you need is a warm jacket, homemade hot chocolate and some good company! Bring a camera or have your phone charged up to take some nice shots of the falling leaves. A few great spots in Edmonton for a walk are the River Valley, Borden Park, and the Emily Murphy Park Trail.
