Self-care is very important. Sometimes it’s hard to remember to give back to yourself. Here are some tips to help you out this winter.
Change out of your pyjamas
Rolling out of bed straight to the computer is easy. With online school, no one needs to know you’re not wearing real pants. Getting out of your pyjamas will help create a routine. Having a consistent routine is good for your mental health.
Make time for friends
Being in lockdown does not mean you need to be alone. There are plenty of apps that can bring you and your friends together. Friends are critical for your mental health. And in times like these, we need each other more than ever.
Get some sun
It’s easy to sit in front of your computer or on the couch all day. But make time for some sun. If the weather isn’t too bad go for a walk. A walk is a great time to clear your mind. If it’s a bit too cold out try having your lunch in a well-lit area. Getting out in the sun will give you the much-needed vitamin D so many of us lack in the winter.
Start a journal
The great part about having a journal is there are no rules. Write your gratitudes or feelings toward lockdown. No matter what you write about getting your thoughts on paper is helpful. Remember this is for you, and no one else. Don’t censor yourself and have fun.
Ask for help
This is a stressful time. Feeling overwhelmed is understandable. Reach out to family or friends for help. Or check out the resources and services available to you. It is important to remember you’re not alone.
These are only five out of hundreds of self-care tips. Try to not be hard on yourself if you have bad days. Be mindful and take care of yourself.
